I always think those Greek salads made with orzo or quinoa look really good. The problem is that I don’t eat orzo or quinoa. I could make this with rice, as I do eat white rice. But now that Trader Joe’s sells organic riced cauliflower, I’m basically obsessed. I bought six bags last week. It’s just me and my husband. I don’t need six bags of riced cauliflower. But I was worried they’d sell out soon – which they did. I’m completely in love with the riced cauliflower. It so easy and incredibly healthy. While I didn’t make this meal specifically as a low carb option, it is a great low carb salad. Plus the cauliflower is way healthier than quinoa, orzo or rice. Superfood Deviled Eggs
Deviled eggs are one of my favorite snacks ever. They’re easy to throw together and insanely healthy. I upped the nutrient density by adding salmon roe. In traditional cultures, fish eggs were reserved for men and women planning to conceive, pregnant women and growing children. It’s definitely a fertility food. Egg yolks are rich in vitamins A, E, D and K as well as choline – a necessary nutrient for pregnancy. Both the egg yolk and fish eggs are rich in omega-3s and the fish eggs are high in vitamins A, D and C and a great source of B12 and folate. I’ve found that a lot of people think fish eggs will taste super fishy, but they’re more salty than anything. They are a great addition to eggs, oysters, sushi, etc. Not overly fishy, just the right amount. Superfood Deviled Eggs Deviled eggs are one of my…
My Favorite Preconception Supplements
For today’s Wellness Wednesday I wanted to share the preconception supplements I’m taking. I’m picky about supplements; a lot of them are complete junk. I want to make it clear that it’s not possible to take supplements to rectify a poor diet. These supplements are meant to be taken in addition to a healthy diet. A healthy diet is the basis of any healthy pregnancy. In the video, I didn’t include the liver supplement simply because I forgot. I actually only take it if I’m not eating liver regularly (which for the most part, I am, because it’s delicious). You can also check out my pregnancy bundle, which includes these supplements here. Be sure to watch the video to find more info on my favorite preconception supplements. https://youtu.be/pJJiJ2tDyRk Here’s the total list of supplements: Great Lakes Gelatin – Gelatin boosts gut health. It also promotes strong bones, joints, and cartilage and helps…
An Unbiased Review of Arbonne
Are Arbonne products safe? In this Arbonne review, you’ll learn about the ingredients used in their shakes and powders and you will find out whether the products are really worth it! Before it’s asked, this is the protein I use and recommend. I couldn’t find one good enough on the market, so I made my own. Grass-fed collagen with six organic superfoods: kale, spirulina, wheatgrass, broccoli, spinach and turmeric. I drink it in my daily smoothies and it gives me LIFE. Aka a healthy gut, glowing skin, strong digestion and energy for DAYS. Arbonne Review: Are Arbonne products safe? After lots of requests for a Arbonne Nutrition review, I’ve finally done it. I wanted to like Arbonne. That’s why I think it took me so long to look at the products. I took a close look at their protein shakes and nutrition bars and listed some of the ingredients that…
DIY Lip Scrub
The other day I was fortunate enough to try some of Jeffree Star’s new lip colors (husband works for him). They were amazing and the colors were awesome. But when I went to try one on, I realized my lips were insanely chapped. Like, grossly chapped. Skin hanging off. It’s easier to not notice this when wearing nothing on your lips. It was kind of sick. I’m pretty sure it’s because I spent all of last weekend at the beach and didn’t use an SPF chapstick on my lips. Winter ain’t the only season your lips can get chapped. So I immediately made a lip scrub. I usually only make this in winter, but summer is obviously a good season to make it as well. This DIY lip scrub super easy and tastes pretty amazing. And it’s great at sloughing off dead skin on your lips. Ingredients 2 tbsp organic…
Matcha Green Tea Latte
If you follow me on Facebook (which you should!) you probably already know I’m not a coffee drinker. Matcha’s much more my bag. I hate the taste of coffee. In addition, I’m super sensitive to that much caffeine. I imagine drinking an entire cup would impart a similar reaction as a hit of crack for me. But since I’ve never done the latter, I’m not entirely sure. Matcha is such a healthier, tastier alternative. First of all, it’s creamy and a bit sweet. I love starting my day with the below recipe for my matcha green tea latte. It’s such a treat. Not to mention it’s seriously healthy. Here are some benefits: high in antioxidants (roughly 100x more than green tea) high in EGCg boosts memory, concentration, and focus contains caffeine – more than green tea but less than coffee boosts the immune system increases energy high in chlorophyll, which…
Wellness Wednesday: Healthy, Non-Toxic Beach Essentials
I know I say I love things a lot, but I REALLY love going to the beach. There’s something so fun and special about going to the beach for me. Scott and I both love it and will regularly decide on a Friday to go to the beach for the weekend. This time around, I rented a beach house with a big group of our friends. I figured it would be an awesome way to kick off the summer. In addition to bringing a ton of food, booze (just organic wine!) and snacks to the beach, I never go without my healthy, non-toxic beach essentials. Everything from suncreen to fake tanner (a healthy version) to lavender/peppermint mist. These are some of the products in my beach bag and I wouldn’t head to the beach without ’em. Yes, I am wearing sunglasses in this video. Yes, I did have bags under…
Fiber-Rich Split Pea Soup
I’ve been trying to incorporate more fiber into my diet because I know I’m generally not eating enough of it. Which is basically why I’ve been binge eating this fiber-rich split pea soup, it’s soooo good. And split peas are one of the most fiber-rich foods, with one cup equaling about 16.3 grams of it. Fiber keeps you regular and improve overall gut health, but be careful about which forms of fiber you’re eating. People love to recommend wheat, corn, cereal and other grains for fiber, but these forms are fiber are actually very difficult on the digestive tract. When it comes to fiber, stick to vegetables – not grains. Vegetables are healthier, more nutrient and antioxidant dense and just taste better. Split pea soup > bread. I made this yesterday and honestly didn’t expect it to taste so awesome. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t expect it to taste bad, it was just really effing good. Like, ridiculously delicious. I think the almond butter was an awesome addition. I don’t often cook with it, usually I just eat it raw. But it’s so creamy and delicious. I’m in love.
