First things first, I’m prone to both acne and anxiety. I’m very lucky like that (just kidding, I really am a lucky person). But because of these two things that are so prevalent in my daily life, I have to take active steps to keep both of them at bay. Truth be told, I could take medications for these things that treat the symptoms but not the actual problem. Instead, I choose to use essential oils – which treat both the root cause and the symptoms. Win, win!
Here’s my daily routine:
Morning
I rarely shower in the morning, how dirty am I getting while I sleep? Because of my skin cleansing process, I wake up with balanced skin. I wash my face with water, apply a toner and a moisturizer. You can see my full routine here.
I apply my deodorant, which is amazing and is the only natural deodorant that keeps me from smelling like a dude after football practice. You can find the recipe here.
I always apply a swipe of this essential oil blend to my feet before I start my day. This way it gets into the bloodstream.
My daily supplements include:
Mid-Morning
Depending on how I feel, I use this blend on my wrists or neck to keep my mood up.
Throughout The Day
I drink water and/or tea. I add gelatin and usually some lemon. Not only does it make whatever I’m drinking taste better, it gives an antioxidant boost and helps detox the liver.
I also make an awesome smelling lavender vanilla perfume. I add it to my wrists and neck to keep me calm and stress-free throughout the day.
Nighttime
Every night I hop in the shower and oil cleanse using this cleansing oil. Oil cleansing is AMAZING, especially for oily/acne prone skin. I wipe the cleansing oil off with a stiff washcloth, making sure to exfoliate my face.
After I get out of the shower, I tone my skin using this toner.
After this, I apply moisturizer all over my face and neck, then follow it up with this essential oil blend to my fine lines and old acne scars.
When I get into bed, I swipe this essential oil blend to the bottom of my feet and also add some under my nose. Not only is Serenity deeply relaxing, it knocks me out within fifteen minutes. Scott even requests that I put it on his feet if I forget. The other day he actually said,
“You wanna watch an episode of Orange Is The New Black in bed? But don’t put that stuff on my feet, I’ll fall asleep.”
I’ve literally never been happier.
Despite being a happy person in general, I was still getting anxious occasionally and my pores and scarring from a long history with troubled skin never seemed to get better. My skin was sallow and looked unhealthy. It was hard to get motivated in the morning.

What do you use to help with anxiety?
Serenity! It’s amazing.
What ratio do you use for the deodorant? I’ve made my own in the past, but had issues with it burning my skin.
About 1 cup coconut oil, 1/4 cup baking soda, 20 drops of melaleuca and 20 of peppermint.
