I’m just going to call it like it is – diets are bullshit. They wreak havoc on the metabolism, leave people hungry and more likely to overeat, do not provide the necessary vitamins and minerals and the best part is – they set people up to gain even more weight!

Counting calories, avoid the egg yolks, eating fruit for breakfast, eat cereal as a snack, eating low-fat yogurt to tide your hunger – none of these things are healthy. And yet, women is particular are encouraged to do them all in the name of losing weight.

The only way to lose weight and keep it off is by eating a real food based diet that supports your dietary needs. It’s not about eating less, it’s about eating right!

Depending on your exercise the level, the body desperately needs the nutrients from the very foods we are encouraged to avoid – butter, fatty seafood, egg yolks, grass-fed meat. These foods are extremely nutrient dense and actually promote weight loss!

We need to move away from this outdated idea that we need to eat less, we need to count calories, we need to replace meat with grains and veggies, we need to eat fake, low-cal junk food to lose weight. This not only encourages the body to cling to weight, it leaves you feeling and looking like crap.

A low-fat yogurt and 100 calorie snack pack are doing NO favors for your skin.

Gut/Cellular Healing

The next reason is that people go from eating one way, usually very poorly, and rapidly switch to eating a healthier diet but don’t ever address the damage that has been done on a gut and cellular level.

For example, I went from eating a ton of fruit, grains, veggies and lean meats to eating a low-sugar, high vegetable diet with high quality meat, seafood and fat. I felt a little better, but couldn’t understand why I wasn’t immediately feeling awesome, why my skin hadn’t immediately cleared, why my stubborn muffin top didn’t immediately disappear.

I needed to heal all the damage I had done.
