I haven’t worn inorganic, regular, aluminum filled deodorant in years (the aluminum and the effects of antiperspirant are really damaging to your health). And let’s be honest here, the organic hippie deodorant doesn’t work so well. If you’re anything like me, you sweat. It smells. And it’s not cute. There are only two deodorants that I have found work for me. The first is Primal Pit Paste, and the second is my homemade deodorant.
Ingredients (roughly):
- 1 cup hardened coconut oil
- 3/4 cup baking soda
- 25 drops lavender oil
- 25 drops tea tree oil
Directions:
- In a bowl combine the hardened coconut oil and baking soda. Do not melt it! If it melts, the baking soda will sink to the bottom.
- Mix the coconut oil and baking soda until fully combined.
- Add the essential oils and combine.
Store in a cool, dry place. I store it in my medicine cabinet. It’s long lasting and doesn’t have a strong smell. You can add more essential oils if you’d like a stronger scent.

How do you mix the baking soda with the coconut oil without melting it? A fork or something? Thanks 🙂
Yep, or spoon. Just mix it a bunch until it softens.
Can you pack this in a deodorant stick?
Would this work in a empty deodorant container? Tia!
