When people make the transition into eating healthier foods, they often get stuck on what to buy from the grocery store, how to plan meals, and how to effectively grocery shop. I cover all of this in Ditch The Diet, with an entire grocery shopping guide, but I figured I’d share my grocery list and how I plan for it.

On Thursday or Friday of each week, I make a grocery list. I’m not hungry when I do this, otherwise my list would include approximately thirteen thousand items. I list my staple items like veggies and meats, then whatever else I want. I also list any meals I’d like to have, make for the blog, etc. My list is messy, random and not categorized. Basically it’s nothing like the way I list it in DTD. But here’s a sample:

jalapeños
cheddar
ground beef
skirt steak
chicken
salmon
tomatoes
frozen peppers
frozen brocc
canned maters
mozz
basil
garlic
turmeric
lettuce
cukes
eggs
avocados
olive oil
taco bowl thangs
bacon wrapped jalapenos with cheddar
chicken lettuce wraps
orange peel/mongolian skirt steak
roasted garlic aioli
tomato bisque?
chocolate pie
stuffed burgers
