Health Benefits of Mushrooms: And insanely good FOR YOU: Mushrooms promote gut health and are a great source of prebiotic fiber. Plus they boost the immune system. Ground Beef Stroganoff (Paleo, Whole30, Low-Carb)

This ground beef stroganoff is a quick, cheap and easy meal thanks to swapping steak for ground beef! Plus it’s paleo, whole30 and low-carb! This Ground Beef Stroganoff is a super quick and easy weeknight dinner recipe, that your whole family will love. I looove beef stroganoff. It’s one of those comforting meals that is quick and easy to make, plus it can feed your whole family with a short list of ingredients! But I don’t love it with beef cubes or steak. It takes longer to cook and it’s much chewier than ground beef. If you’re wondering why that matters, it’s because my teeth have been hurting. A filling has started to move somehow and my dentist tried to charge me $750 to fix it. So I left. And came home and made ground beef stroganoff because it’s easy to chew. Super appetizing right? I’m really selling this ground…

Five Things People Do Wrong When Going Keto

The ketogenic diet is hugely popular and with good reason; it’s been shown to reduce inflammation, improve depression and anxiety, curb epileptic seizures and help people lose weight. It can be incredibly healing, especially for those with diabetes, mood disorders, Alzheimer’s and gut infections. However, in following along on social media and seeing the huge explosion of this way of eating, I’ve also seen a lot of ways people kind of botch it. I’ve decided to share five things people do wrong when going keto because I’m seeing these mistakes repeatedly. NOT ENOUGH VEGGIES I see so many people avoiding vegetables on keto. Here’s the thing: keto can be a very healthy and well balanced diet. But you know what the backbone of keto is that people don’t realize? VEGETABLES. Veggies should make up the bulk of every ketogenic plate of food. Vegetables are loaded with so many vitamins, minerals…

Paleo Jap Chae

I love Asian style noodles and while these isn’t a traditional jap chae recipe, this paleo jap chae is seriously delicious. And healthy. And filling. It’s such an easy dinner to throw together and is perfect to meal prep for lunches throughout the week. The noodles are made from sweet potato starch, which is a paleo approved safe starch and Whole30 approved too! I love this recipe because it’s loaded with veggies, it’s so flavorful and has a punch of protein from the steak. Just be sure to get grass-fed steak, preferably from your local farmers market. It’s cheaper to buy it there too. Beef gets a bad rap but grass-fed beef is actually amazing for the environment. This is something so wonderfully articulated in the book The Vegetarian Myth. And also Folks, This Ain’t Normal. I highly recommend reading both. Grass-fed beef regenerates and nourishes the land. What most…

BAHAMAS VACA: Harbour Island

Scott and I decided to take the baby to the Bahamas, to Harbour Island – where we honeymooned three and a half years ago. I LOVE seeing pictures of other peoples’ vacations. Probably because I’m so nosy. But I thought I’d share some from our vacation as well. It was the most beautiful place we’d ever been (and Scott’s been alllll over the world). And also I really needed to escape winter – winter anxiety is a real thing! I need sun! I want to go outside! I have to connect with nature! We were so excited to fly south. The flights were pretty easy and Everett did well on both. Be sure to check out my traveling tips with a baby HERE. They make a world of difference. It was gorgeous when we arrived. Obviously: But it was windy! Even though it was in the 70s, it was so…

Meal Prep Monday

Every Sunday I meal prep my ass off. If and when I don’t do this – we ended up eating out about 17 times. I love to have food already made in my fridge. It’s so convenient. It makes my life SO much easier. If there’s one piece of advice I can give anyone trying to eat healthier (aside from eating good, whole, real, organic food), it’s that you should be meal prepping every Sunday. And if you need ideas, just come here and check out my Meal Prep Monday posts. We’re all busy. A lot of us are parents. Most of us work. At the end of the day, it’s so nice to have good, healthy food already made to just pull out of the fridge and heat up. This week I made: paleo lasagna roasted chicken and veggies paleo taco lasagna four smoothies sautéed mushrooms I used these…

A Boho + Gluten-Free First Birthday Party

I LOVE me a good party. I love going to parties, I love throwing parties, I love planning parties. I had so much fun coming up with a concept for Ev’s birthday and landed on a boho + gluten-free first birthday party. I landed on this aestetic for his party in large part due to the fact that my house is already pretty boho so I wouldn’t have to decorate too much. As much as I love a good party, I also enjoy a party that doesn’t require a shit ton of effort. Let’s be honest, a first birthday party is more for than parents and friends. Everett wasn’t aware of the decorations or the food or the cake – he was just loving all the attention he got! So I wasn’t going to go all out with kiddie decorations, which I’m not a huge fan of anyway. I wanted…

Wrinkle Reducing Berry Smoothie

Despite the title, no, this is not a smoothie for your face. Although that doesn’t sound like a bad idea. I’ll have to try that. This smoothie actually works from the inside out to help reduce and even prevent wrinkles. Wondering how? COLLAGEN. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body. It makes up our skin, our hair, our nails, our joints, our cartilage, etc. At the age of 25, we produce less and less collagen. This is why we see more wrinkles, brittle bones, arthritis and less lustrous hair with age. One reason for both cellulite and stretch marks is a breakdown in connective tissue. Collagen helps our skin remain firm and elastic. Collagen helps the skin retain structural integrity. Remember that collagen is a protein, a protein that helps form the connective tissue of the skin. If it’s lacking or damaged, this will result in wrinkles (as well…

The Best Supplements For Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is serious business. Another tiny human is depending completely on you for their vitamins, minerals and overall nourishment. If you’re not eating well – then the baby isn’t eating well. If you’re not getting enough vitamin A, the baby isn’t getting enough vitamin A. And yes, of course, it’s best to get your vitamins and minerals from food and that should absolutely be the top priority when it comes to healthy breastmilk, but let’s face it. Eating the number of vitamins and minerals necessary to obtain an optimal amount for you AND baby is freakin’ tough. It’s really hard. I am a nutritionist and it’s even hard for me. In light of that, it’s still important to eat well and supplement. You cannot out-supplement a bad diet. A bad diet is just that and no amount of vitamins is going to change that. Eating well is the foundation, mamas.…
